welcome to

Lighting has a unique way of shaping a space. Whether the goal is the highest level of craftsmanship or a more budget-conscious solution, the right lighting choices bring a design fully to life. Lighting reveals the story of a space—what it wants to express, how it wants people to feel, and the subtle details that make an environment feel good.

Sourcing Light is a curated lighting design and sourcing practice created to protect creative vision as it moves from idea to built form. We support designers, architects, developers, and owners in carrying their original intent through the construction process—without it being diluted, over-marked, or reshaped by buying systems that prioritize profit over purpose.

We guide projects through the practical realities of construction and cost with clarity and care, directing resources where they matter most so the spirit of the design remains intact. Our role is to hold the line between vision and execution supporting both the art and the build.

We provide thoughtfully selected lighting products, custom and fabricated fixtures, education on the physiological effects of light, and informed guidance on budget and design decisions to ensure each project meets both creative and practical goals.

DESIGN

Turn Ideas Into Light

We view lighting design around how people feel in a space with unique or boutique fixtures to support the look or brand. Our focus is on warmth, conversation, quality of light and design style—avoiding a flat, primarily budget specific, generic look. We like uniqueness while meeting or exceeding your budget requirements.

We strive to match your vibe!

Lighting location and LED quality can dramatically alter brightness, color accuracy, and visual comfort. These differences are often subtle but deeply felt: Do people have dark shadows under their eyes? Do guests look ghostly, too yellow or have flat skin tone? Is there enough perceived privacy from neighboring tables? Are patrons returning? Is the light level too high creating a stadium or gray glare bomb effect?

Does the vibe feel good, enthusiastic, sexy, etc.? Lighting can make or break a space! We all know this, yet, often not sure how or why. We help you understand how and why you want to create this.

We support your team whether the space is in the design phase or after it has been constructed. The result is lighting that encourages ease, warmth, conversation, and connection. Spaces feel comfortable without explanation—people look better, stay longer, and instinctively want to return.

If you’re creating a space where experience matters, I’d love to hear about it!

US Fabrication

We design custom lighting through a variety of starting points—whether developing a new concept, translating a simple sketch into a complete technical drawing, or refining an existing design. Each fixture is thoughtfully engineered and fabricated to meet UL requirements and industry standards.

We source quality materials, specify construction appropriate for

locations, and coordinate closely with installation teams to ensure each fixture is ready for a smooth installation. While custom lighting is often perceived as costly or uncertain, a clear and well-guided process frequently results in solutions that are both beautifully tailored and budget-conscious. We work collaboratively from concept through completion to maintain clarity, alignment, and ease throughout the process.

EDUCATION

Layered Lighting
Skin Color Tuning
Task Efficiency
Mood Lighting
Subconscious Response
Nervous System Reaction

Circadian Rhythm
Lumen Output
Glare Scale
LED Quality
CRI vs TM-30 Scale
Kelvin Temperature

Lighting influences far more than visibility or productivity—it shapes how the nervous system responds to a space. Over 80% of how we experience our environment is visual, yet lighting education in design and development often stops at output, circadian rhythm, or basic color metrics.

Our educational work explores lighting through the lens of human perception, brain function, and sensory response. We teach how light affects nervous system regulation, emotional comfort, and—critically—how people look and feel in a space.

When people feel safe, function well, and appear healthy, the nervous system relaxes.

We dive into understanding the WHY in lighting.

This response is subconscious—and it’s why people return to certain environments again and again.

We like to educate design teams, developers, owners, and industry groups, offering a deeper understanding of lighting beyond standard specifications. Topics include five-sense healing, brain development and visual processing, the TM-30 color rendering scale, LED quality and limitations, and what truly creates supportive, restorative, and high-performing environments.

This is lighting education that bridges science, design, and human experience—so spaces don’t just work, they resonate. Contact us for more information.

about

Welcome to Sourcing Light! I look forward to working with you and hearing about your project, creativity, history, and bringing your project to light!

After nearly three decades working across every layer of the lighting industry (including design, fabrication, distribution, manufacturer representation, specification support and as a business owner), I saw how lighting—the element most responsible for how a space feels—is often the first place budgets are reduced, despite being one of the most powerful factors in whether people feel comfortable, stay longer, and choose to return!

My work has supported a wide range of projects, from private residences to boutique and hospitality environments. Alongside my professional practice, I have taught and spoken on lighting design and products through guest lectures and industry seminars, including at institutions such as Parsons. Education has always been central to my work, as I believe better understanding leads to better spaces and collaboration!

As my career evolved, I expanded my focus beyond aesthetics and performance to include human health and enjoyment. Through advanced training and earning my doctorate in Eastern Medicine, I began integrating how lighting affects the autonomic nervous system—shaping stress response, energy levels, rest, and emotional regulation. This perspective reinforced my belief that lighting is not just a visual tool, but a physiological one as well.

At its core, I wanted Sourcing Light to be about supporting people: the owner’s vision, the design’s creation, the construction process, and how patrons feel in the space. People return to places that have them feel good – whether focused at work, relaxed in a bar or restaurant, or welcomed while traveling. At Sourcing Light, we work to protect design intent, support artists and fabricators, and ensure lighting is treated not as an afterthought, but as a foundational part of human experience.

The world is brighter with better light!
